French President Emmanuel Macron recently visited Indonesia to strengthen the partnership between the two countries. Macron emphasized the substantial and genuine cooperation that exists between Indonesia and France, moving beyond mere symbolism. Upon his arrival, President Prabowo Subianto welcomed Macron warmly at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.
During his visit, Macron highlighted the opportunity to enhance the strategic partnership between France and Indonesia, focusing on collaboration in various sectors including the economy, technology, security, and culture. The diplomatic relations between Indonesia and France, which have been maintained for 75 years, have seen significant advancements over the past decade.
Macron also acknowledged Indonesia’s crucial role in maintaining regional stability in the Indo-Pacific region and emphasized the progress in bilateral defense cooperation, renewable energy, transportation, and energy transition agenda. Cultural collaboration was another key aspect of Macron’s visit, with a cultural agreement set to be signed at the Borobudur Temple complex as a symbolic gesture of the strengthening friendship between the two nations.
Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome extended by President Prabowo, Macron conveyed optimism for continued joint efforts during his two-day official visit to Indonesia. The visit further solidified the bond between Indonesia and France, fostering a deeper understanding and cooperation between the two countries.
